Place Details List

You can open the Place Details list dialog by clicking the Place details list button (the crossed street names sign) next to place details fields in fact edit pane.

The Place details list offers the following options:

Edit – Highlight the place details entry that you want to make change to, and click Edit. After making the changes, click OK to accept the changes or Cancel to close the dialog without making changes. You can also enter the latitude and longitude of the place, as well as adding a place history or other comments about the place from the "Place note" button , or adding place specific images or other media via the "Place media" button.

Note: If you change a place details entry to match another one in the list, RootsMagic will not automatically merge the two place details entries together for you, as in the Place list edit dialog. There is no merge function or usage function for Place Details.

Delete – Highlight the place details entry that you want to remove from the list and click Delete. RootsMagic will ask if you are sure you want to delete the place details entry. If a place details entry that you delete was used in other places, the place field in those event will be blank.

Merge – When you have two place details you want to merge together (perhaps different spellings of the same place), highlight the place detail you want to keep, then click the "Merge" button. You can then select any duplicates and click the Merge button to merge the duplicate place details into the selected one.

Click Select to choose the place details entry, or click Cancel to close the Place details list without saving any changes.
