Manually merging places
When you have two places you want to merge together (perhaps different spellings of the same place), highlight the place you want to keep, then click the "Merge" button You can then check one or more places to merge and click the "Merge selected places" button. RootsMagic will then merge the selected places into the first place you chose to keep. Note: You will not be asked to confirm where you want to merge the place – when you click the button the places will be merged.
Automatically merging places
If you change a place to match another one in the Place list, RootsMagic will automatically merge the two places together for you.
