Database Tools are simply a few commands which can help you check and clean up the database. To access the database tools, select the File page, then Tools.
- Test integrity - This command will tell you if the basic structure of the data file is ok.
- Rebuild indexes - This command will rebuild the internal indexes that RootsMagic uses when accessing data.
- Clean phantom records - This command will clean up phantom records of various types, such as blank children in a family, families with no people in them, etc.
- Compact - This command will remove deleted and unused records from the database. This can make the data file a little smaller.
