Address List

Prints an address list of the people in your database.

To print an address list:

  1. Select the Publish page
  2. Select "All reports and charts"
  3. Select "Address List"
  4. Select your options from the Reports Settings panel:
    Address List Settings
    1. Addresses to print - Choose whether to print all addresses from your database, or to select certain individuals whose addresses you want to print (for example, all descendants of John Doe). If you choose "Selected people addresses", click Select to open the "Select people" screen to let you to choose the people to include by marking the checkbox beside the names of the desired individuals, and clicking OK.
    2. Columns - Choose how many columns you want the address list to be printed in. You can choose 1, 2, or 3 columns.
    3. Print phone numbers - Mark this checkbox to print the phone number of each person.
    4. Print email address - Mark this checkbox to print the email address of each person.
    5. Print fax number – Mark this checkbox to print the fax number of each person.
    6. Print website URL – Mark this checkbox to print the website URL of each person.
    7. Print address notes – Mark this checkbox to print the address notes of each person.
    8. Print preparer's name and address - Mark this checkbox to print the preparer's name and address at the end of the list. You enter the preparer's name and address from the "Settings, Preparer" dialog.

Ahnentafel

Lists the ancestors of the highlighted person. The list is in a narrative format, but only includes the birth, marriage and death information for each person.

Birthday and Anniversary List

Displays the birthdays and/or wedding anniversaries of the individuals in your database.

CountyCheck List

Displays a list of events with place problems like a county which didn't exist on the date of the event. CountyCheck currently works for places in the US, Canada, UK, and Australia. To print a CountyCheck list:

  1. Select the Publish page
  2. Select "All reports and charts"
  3. Select "CountyCheck"
  4. Select your options from the Report Settings panel:

    1. People to include – Choose whether you want to check events for everyone in your database, a selected list of people, or a named group of people.     2. Information to include – Choose which messages you want printed: errors (like a county not existing on a date), suggestions (for possible missing parts of the place), or matches.
    3. Print private facts - Mark this checkbox to indicate you want to include facts that are marked private.
    4. Print color coding – Mark this checkbox to print any color coded people in color.
    5. Print preparer information – Mark this checkbox to print the preparer's name and address at the end of the list. You enter the preparer's name and address from the "Settings, Preparer" dialog.

Descendant List

Displays an indented list of the highlighted person's descendants. You can print a full descendancy (all descendants of a person), or a direct line descendancy (only the direct line between two people).

To print a descendant list:

  1. Select the Publish page
  2. Select "All reports and charts"
  3. Select "Descendant List"
  4. Select your options from the Report Settings panel:
    Descendant List - Full Descendancy
    1. List Type – Choose whether to print a full descendancy or a direct descendancy:
      1. Full descendancy - Select the starting person for the report.
      2. Direct line descendancy - Select the start person and the direct descendant.
    2. Format of list - Choose whether you want to print a single line for each person (name, birth and death date), or a single line for each person with name, birth date and death date in columns, or up to 4 lines for each person (name, birth date/place, marriage date/place, and death date/place).
    3. Numbering style - Choose what type of number to print in front of each person's name. You can choose from the generation number, Henry number, D'Aboville number, or outline numbering.
    4. Number of generations - Enter the number of generations you want RootsMagic to include in the descendant list.
    5. Spaces to indent each generation – Select how much indentation you want for each generation.
    6. Print lead dots before each person’s name – Mark this checkbox if you want RootsMagic to print leader dots in front of each person.
    7. Print spouses - Mark this checkbox if you want RootsMagic to include the spouses of each descendant.
    8. Print color coding - Mark this checkbox if you want RootsMagic to only print details in color for those who have color coding applied.
    9. Place details - Mark this checkbox to include place details
    10. Print private facts - Mark this checkbox to indicate you want to include facts that are marked private.
    11. Print preparer information - Mark this checkbox to print the preparer's name and address at the end of the list. You enter the preparer's name and address from the "Settings, Preparer" dialog.

Duplicate List

Lists possible duplicate records in your database. This list can be useful when using the merge features of the program.

To print a duplicate list:

    Duplicate List Settings
    1. Search Type
      1. Criteria - Find people where the following information matches - This option lets you enter criteria which RootsMagic will use to determine how closely two individuals must match to be considered duplicates. This criteria includes:
        1. Names sound alike - the soundex of the names of the 2 people must match
        2. Compare blank surnames – If this checkbox is not marked, RootsMagic will ignore individuals who do not have a surname entered.
        3. Compare blank given names – If this checkbox is not marked, RootsMagic will ignore individuals who do not have a given name entered.
        4. Start with what surname – There are times you may not want to search the entire database for duplicates. You can enter a surname in this field to begin searching for duplicates at that surname.
        5. Compare birth dates - If this checkbox is marked, RootsMagic will compare the birth dates of individuals to determine if they are duplicates.
        6. Compare birth places - If this checkbox is marked, RootsMagic will compare the birthplaces of individuals to determine if they are duplicates.
        7. Check blank dates – If this checkbox is marked RootsMagic will include people without birth dates.
        8. Check blank places – If this checkbox is marked RootsMagic will include people without birth places.
        9. Max years between births – The maximum number of years which the two birth dates can differ by.
        10. Compare death dates - If this checkbox is marked, RootsMagic will compare the death dates of individuals to determine if they are duplicates.
        11. Compare death places - If this checkbox is marked, RootsMagic will compare the death places of individuals to determine if they are duplicates.
        12. Check blank dates – If this checkbox is marked RootsMagic will include people without death dates.
        13. Check blank places – If this checkbox is marked RootsMagic will include people without death places.
        14. Max years between deaths – The maximum number of years which the two death dates can differ by.
      2. Find people with the same Ancestral File Numbers - RootsMagic will look for any individuals that have matching Ancestral File numbers. All other information in the person's record will be ignored.
      3. Find people with the same reference numbers - RootsMagic will look for any individuals that have matching reference numbers. This is not the same as record numbers (which would never match since no two people in a database have the same record number). The reference number is a fact which can be added to an individual. All other information in the person's record will be ignored.
    2. Print private facts - Mark this checkbox to indicate you want to include facts that are marked private.
    3. Print preparer information - Mark this checkbox to print the preparer's name and address at the end of the list. You enter the preparer's name and address from the "Settings, Preparer" dialog.

Fact List

The fact list is actually several lists each related to facts. You can get a list of people with a fact type, without a fact type, with more than one of a fact type, and numerous other options.

To print a fact list:

  1. Select the Publish page
  2. Select "All reports and charts"
  3. Select "Fact List"
  4. Select your options from the Reports Settings panel:
    Fact List Settings
    1. Create a list of – Select the type of fact list you want to create.
      1. People with this fact type – Prints a list of everyone who has a fact of the type selected from the drop list of fact types.
      2. People missing this fact type – Prints a list of everyone who does not have a fact of the type selected from the drop list of fact types.
      3. People with more than one of this fact type – Prints a list of everyone who have more than one fact of the type selected from the drop list of fact types.
      4. Facts that have sources – Prints a list of all facts (and the people they belong to) which have a source.
      5. Facts without sources – Prints a list of all facts (and the people they belong to) which do not have a source.
      6. Facts with citation quality of – Prints a list of all facts (and the people they belong to) which match the criteria you select from three drop lists - Source, Information, and Evidence.
      7. Facts with text dates - Prints a list of facts which have irregular dates.
      8. Private fact list - Prints a list of private facts in the database.
    2. People to include – Choose whether you want to include everyone in your database, a selected list of people, or a named group of people. If you choose "Select from list", the people button beside the field changes from gray tones to color and RootsMagic opens the "Select people" screen to let you to select the people to include by marking the checkbox beside the names of the desired individuals. Individual List

Displays an alphabetical list of all or selected individuals. You can include events, parents, spouses, and children for each individual by marking the appropriate checkbox.

  4. Select your options from the Report Settings panel:

Kinship List

Shows how the highlighted individual is related to all the members of his or her family included in the database. Each person is listed alphabetically.

    1. Report type - Choose whether to print individual ordinances or marriage sealings.
    2. People to print - Choose which individuals to include in the list.
      1. All – Everybody in the database
      2. Only people who are missing one or more ordinances
      3. Only people who have all their ordinance work completed
      4. Only people who have an ordinance marked as "submitted"
      5. Only people who are qualified for at least one ordinance
    3. Include living individuals - Mark this checkbox if you want to include living individuals in the list.
    4. Print "Qualified" for qualified ordinance - Mark this checkbox if you want RootsMagic to write the word "Qualified" for ordinances that the person is qualified for.
    5. Print private facts - Mark this checkbox to indicate you want to include facts that are marked private.

The Missing Information List allows you to choose any group of fact types and have RootsMagic print a list of every person missing one or more of those fact types. To print a missing information list:

    3. People to include – Choose whether you want to include everyone in your database, a selected list of people, or a named group of people. Multimedia List

Lists multimedia items in your database. This list also shows you the location (directory and file name on your computer) of each scrapbook item. If RootsMagic cannot find a scrapbook item, it will print [*NOT FOUND*] in front of the filename where it thinks the file is supposed to be.

To print a multimedia list:

  1. Select the Publish page
  2. Select "All reports and charts"
  3. Select "Multimedia List"
  4. Select your options from the Report Settings panel:

    10. Media types to include – Select which types of media (images, sound or video clips, files) you want to include in the list.

On This Day List

Lists all events from your database which occurred on a selected day. You can also choose to print famous births, deaths and events which occurred on that same day.

To print the On This Date report:

  1. Select the Publish page
  2. Select "All reports and charts"
  3. Select "On This Day List"
  4. Select your options from the Report Settings panel:

    1. Month - Select the month
    2. Date – Select the day that you want to print the list for.
    3. Family Events
    4. Famous Births
    5. Famous Deaths
    6. Historical Events
    7. Include private events – Check to print any events that have been marked as "private"

Place List

Lists all places in the database and the events that occurred in those places. If no event occurred in a place, that place will not appear on your report.

To print a place list:

  1. Select the Publish page
  2. Select "All reports and charts"
  3. Select "Place List"
  4. Select your options from the Reports Settings panel:
    Place List Settings
    1. Places to print – Choose which places you want to print:
      1. Print all places in the database
      2. Print all places (including events)
      3. Print events in a single place. Use the Select button to choose which place to print the events for.
      4. Print events near a place. You will need to choose a place, and then select a radius (in miles) that you want RootsMagic to include places. For example, you can choose to include all events within 50 miles of Dallas, Texas.
      5. Print filtered places. Print all places containing specific text.
      6. Print filtered places and events. Print all places containing specific text.
    2. Reverse place names (groups places geographically) – Check this if you want RootsMagic to reverse the place names so they are listed by largest place name to smallest.
    3. Print place details – Check this if you want RootsMagic to include the place details when printing events that happened in each place.
    4. Print latitude and longitude if entered – Mark this if you want RootsMagic to print any latitudes and longitudes that you have entered for places.
    5. Print notes/history for each place – Select this if you want RootsMagic to print the place note for each place and place detail (if place details are included in option 3 above). Note that private information will be included.
    6. Print list of images for each place – Check this if you want RootsMagic to print a list of all the media items attached to the place and place detail (if place details are included in option 3 above).
    7. Print private facts – Mark this checkbox to indicate you want to include facts that are marked private.
    8. Print preparer information – Select this checkbox to print the preparer's name and address at the end of the list. You enter the preparer's name and address from the "Settings, Preparer" dialog.

Statistics List

Shows statistics for any or all individuals in your database. These statistics include things like minimum, maximum, and average age at marriage and death, average number of marriages, etc.

  4. Select your options from the Report Settings panel:

Surname Statistics List

The Surname Statistics List prints each surname in the database, sorted in any number of ways. It includes the number of occurrences of the surname (total and among males and females), and the earliest and latest date the surname appears (births, christenings, deaths, and burials).

To print a surname statistics list:

  1. Select the Publish page
  2. Select "All reports and charts"
  3. Select "Surname Statistics List"
  4. Select your options from the Report Settings panel:

      1. Surname (alphabetical)
      2. Frequency of surname – By the frequency the surname occurs in the database

      5. Earliest occurrence of surname – By the earliest occurrence (date-wise) of the surname in the database

The Timeline List chronologically lists every event/fact in the lives of a single individual or a selected group of people.

    1. Timeline type
      1. Individual timeline list – Chronologically lists every fact or event in the life of a single person. you can include the birth, marriage, and death information about any selected family member(s). Events for these other family members will only be printed if they occur during the lifetime of the starting person.
      2. Group timeline list – Chronologically lists every fact/event for any group of people you select.
    2. Select others to include in timeline – Choose whether you want to include "Nobody" else, individuals selected from list, or people in a named group. If you choose "Select from list", the people button beside the field changes from gray tones to color and RootsMagic opens the "Select people" screen to let you to select the people to include by marking the checkbox beside the names of the desired individuals.     4. Include place for each event – Mark this to include the place for each event printed.

Who Was There List

The "Who Was There" list is a very powerful report that lets you see every person who was in a particular place at a particular time. The report will print the name of each person who may have been in that place at that time, along with their birth and death date, and any events in their lives that occurred in that place.

  1. You can print a report for large general areas like countries, or down to a specific town.
  2. You can include people who may have been there on a specific date, or during a wider time period
  3. You can filter to include only people who were a certain age at that time
  4. You can choose to print alternate names for the person
  5. You can print the married name for women on that date
  6. You can apply any other filtering already offered by RootsMagic

To print a Who Was There list:

  1. Select the Publish page
  2. Select "All reports and charts"
  3. Select "Who Was There List"
  4. Select your options from the Reports Settings panel:

    1. Find people who may have lived in this place – Enter a city, state, or country.
    2. On this date – Enter a date or a time period.
    3. Life span (average) – Enter an average life span for RootsMagic to use for people who are missing a birth or death date.

If you choose "Select from list", the people button beside the field changes from gray tones to color and RootsMagic opens the "Select people" screen to let you to select the people to include by marking the checkbox beside the names of the desired individuals.     5. Minimum and Maximum age - Enter ages to filter the list by.
    6. Print married name on date - Mark this checkbox to print the most likely married name for each female on the date selected.
    7. Print alternate names - Mark this checkbox to print any alternate names entered for each person.
    8. Reverse place names - Mark this checkbox to print places in reverse (Country, State, County, City).
    9. Print color coding - Mark this checkbox to print any color coded people in color.
    10. Print preparer information - Mark this checkbox to print the preparer's name and address at the end of the list. You enter the preparer's name and address from the "Settings, Preparer" dialog.

  6. Click the "Generate Report" button to generate the report and display it in the Report Viewer. From there you can modify the report settings, send the report to your printer, or save the report to disk.
